Protective Packaging: Life Cycle of an "Order" - Part 2

sales order process

Do you need to Place a Custom Order?

As the 2nd Part to our "Process of Custom Packaging" is to inform our customers and potential customers the Life Cycle of an Order.

With our outstanding customer service available 8am-5pm, M-F we want to make things as easy as possible when it comes to placing an order/receving it.

We would like to take this opprotunity to show you the 6 Steps to our Life Cycle of an "Order" with Premier Protect Packaging.

"Application Process"

  • We Send you our Customer Application
  • Company Information Needed
  • Credit Check/References
  • Payment Options
  • Tax Exepmtion/W-9

This process could possibly take up to 2 weeks to finalize based on how quick your references respond to us. If you need a custom order soone than that, i suggest getting your references in contact ASAP with our Accounts Payable division.

"Request a Quote"

If you are unsure of what size Bubble, Foam or Spun Bond, to use or even what material is best for impact protection or surface protection, you should contact us.  We also want you to feel comfortable with the product we are quoting you, so don't hesitate to ask for Samples!

We typically quote a quantity that you would typically use in a month; if you are unsure of that amount we can give you a "minimum run" quanity. A quote stays active for a month in our system and we can always do a re-quote based on possible price changes due to raw material. When you are ready to order the product we quoted, it's as easy as turning that quote into a Purchase Order, which leads us to the next step.

 "Place Order/Order Confirmation"

Placing an order is as easy as sending a Fax over to us with a Purchase order number and who it's for. Once you are established in our database, we are able to attach your order and confirm it to you via email.

Changing Order: If you would like to change something within your order, it would have to depend on the item and how long after the order had been placed. If order was only quoted and not ordered, we can do a re-quote on item if a month out.

Bulk Orders: Each item has different price breaks due to the yield & cost of raw material. Larger quantities ordered will always carry a lower price.

"Production"

custom packaging

Custom orders take approximately 2-3 weeks. A few reasons for that... one being that sometimes raw material needs to be ordered, large orders are being processed on certain machines and/or we have many orders to be filled. We try to work to accommodate special rush request, so please call customer service if you need support with an order that is Hot! All of our machines run 24/7 and we stick to our lead times.

Stock Items: Our 3/16 Bubble Out Bags with Lip and Tape along with our 3/32 PE Foam Stock bags. Pouch sizes range from 3 x 4 to 18 x 24.

                                            "Delivery"

transportation

For shipping and delivery we will go with the most cost effective way. (UPS, LTL (Less-Than Truck Load), Truck Load, & Local Carrier) If you have a specific carrier that you like and want us to use, feel free to make the suggestion and we will do what you are used to.

As for customer pick up, we do offer that at our location. If you request that option, we will call you to let you know when your order is ready for pick up.

check payment

"Payment"

As of right now we only accept Checks, we hope to build with online ordering in the future and with accepting Credit cards but we want to maintain that personal touch with our customers.

If you are still unsure of our prodcuts and what we can do for you, please request a Sample Kit 2012 or view our Brochure for more information! We will send that out as soon as we get your request!sample-kit-2011

Foam Sheets: Do You Need Food Grade Foam?

What does Food and Foam have to do with each other?food grade foam

Imagine yourself at a grocery store... where would you find foam sheets with food? How about the Fresh Meat section, at the bottom of beef & chicken containers or how about with fresh fruit or even inside a chocolate box of treats?

The list goes on but we want to make sure you are using the right foam to make your products safe! Food grade foam is a material that is reliable, U.S. FDA compliant & consistent in performance. This superior foam food packaging material is for those food grade products that require light cushioning, surface protection and product immobilization.

Food Grade MicroFoam:

  • Micro Foam is roughly half the density of Polyethylene and much easier to handle.
  • Ease of Handling & light weight which leads to a cost effective shipment.
  • Lowers product movement and risk damage during the shipping process.
  • Has better breathable characteristics than the standard Polyethylene Foam.
  • High melting point allows Micro foam to perform reliably from -250 degrees F up to 250 degrees F with a melting point of 320 degrees F.

This Foam can be made into sheets, pouches, tubing, and we also have the ability to laminate to films.

foam products

Benefits of Food Grade Micro Foam:

  •  * Non-Toxic & Non-Abrasive
  •  * Good Quality & Light weight

Pink Anti-Static Bubble Wrap: What's that for?

anti static bubble wrapPink Bubble Wrap? That's right, there is such a thing!

With the winter weather finally here in Michigan we are probably starting to see the effects of static electricity everywhere. Whether it is from your clothing rubbing together to touching something metal, you will get an electric shock. These types of charges are normally on us but could cause an even bigger problem for small electronic devices.

Did you ever think that static electricity could damage our electronic devices and circuits?

Anti-static bubble wrap bags or even our anti-static foam pouches are a must for any electronic environment. You have a few options on how you want to use the anti-static bubble wrap material. Premier Protective Packaging has the ability to stock the anti-static material in foam or bubble. The most common size that we carry is the 3/16 Bubble but we also carry 1/16", 1/8", & 5/16. If you need a custom size, feel free to "Request a Quote".

Primarily we produce sheets or bags to our customers, and if you needed a roll or bundle size, we can do that too. We want to keep your goods packed securely and free from damage by electrostatic discharge. This Bubble wrap and Foam will not produce electrostatic during the shipping process and is highly used for packaging electronics.

anti-static bubble bagWhy is the Bubble Wrap Pink?

The only way people were able to tell the difference between regular bubble material verses static control material was to add a distinct "Pink" colorant. Pink Anti-static bubble wrap consists of plastic that has been surface coated with a chemical to prevent static electricity.

Why Do We Package Electronics in Anti-Static Bags?

A Static Charge could damage your Computer Monitor, TV, Cell Phone, DVD's etc, if not properly packaged. With Anti-Static Packaging, static will travel around the bag and will dissipate before it has a chance to damage contents when shipping or storing. In the picture to the right, you have 3 Anti-static bags with an inch lip & tape, very ideal for your electronics.

What are the benefits to Anti-Static Material?

  • Eliminates the hazard of static electricity
  • Ideal for packaging, storing and shipping electronic components
  • Low Cost
  • Protects goods from external damage
  • Non-Abrasive, won't scratch or mar delicate surfaces

Protect your electronic devices and save money by packaging your products with these convenient low-density polyethylene pink Anti-static bags. If you need more information on our products, feel free to "Ask the Expert". If you need a Quote, don't hesitate to request one!

What Size Bubble Wrap Do You Need?

bubble wrap

What size bubble wrap do you need?

This question is one of the most common question we get when dealing with custom bubble wrap packaging.

In our last blog post: "Bubble Wrap & Foam bundle Options", we gave you an idea of what types of heights and slits will work best for your products.

As for this Blog post we hope to give you more indepth infomation on the "size" of the bubble wrap you will need to protect your product during the shipping process.

Top 3 things you need to know:

1) "Width" of the Bubble Wrap Roll: What size product are you packaging? Depending on your dimensions, that will determine what size roll width you will need. Many options with bundles and our Bundle Height Diagram will give you a better idea of what we can offer you.

2) "Length" of the Bubble Wrap Roll: What you are wrapping? The length of each bundle will determine what you will need to purchase to accomidate your quantity for production. In some cases there are minimum rates and that is where you can request a quote to learn more.

3) "Size " of the actual Bubble: The size of the bubble refers to the height of the bubble as shown in the diagram below. Also listed on the diagram is the diameter and what typically people use that size bubble for.

The standard bubble heights we carry and keep in stock include: 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 5/16 and 1/2". The Bubble Size Chart below gives you a visual and a brief idea of what type of product should go with that size bubble. If you are still a little unsure of what specific size you need, we would be happy to send you a "Sample Kit" with all of our products or if you just need a bubble sheet sample "Request a Sample".

Bubble Wrap Size ChartOne of our stock items include the 3/16 bubble out bags with a lip and tape. These bags have an easy seal and typically work well with cushioning items that are light to medium weight products. If you have specific bundle length and height options we have the ability to Slit all our bundles.

Bubble Wrap & Foam Bundle Options

premier protective packagingWhether you are moving, packing & shipping, boxing or storing valuables, you need some sort of protective packaging material to keep items safe from damage.

A few things I'd like to bring to people's attention is that, here at Premier we market ourselves to companies who need custom protective packaging. ex: bags, sheets, tubing etc. But more importantly we have the abilitiy to offer bundles, slit bundles and perforated bundles of our packaging material.

Below is a diagram of what size bundles come in and out of our doors. Depending on the height of the bundle and the material, we typically carry bundle sizes ranging in specific thicknesses of foam & bubble from 48" x 750 to 96" x 2000. Each material is different and if you have specific questions on what size bundle you should be looking at, feel free to "Ask the Expert".

bundle size

Based on the height of the bundle we have options that consist of slitting the bundle to your specific needs. If you are in need of 12" rolls of Foam, Bubble or Spun Bond, we would slit the bundle just like the diagram below shows with a 48" roll to either cut 2 rolls of 24" or 4 rolls of 12". Shorter bundles take up less space and great for low-volume or retail applications.

We also have an option to where we are able to perforate bundles for an easy tear off sheet to add "quick and easy" into your shipping process. A perforated bundle is a great option for companies who ship out many products daily and companies who have production lines that need a quick fix speeding up the production rate. Interested in perforated bubble bags on a roll, check out one of our recent blog post on "Custom Packaging: Bubble Bags on a Roll"  Bundle slit options

We do carry Anti-Static foam and bubble along with our Green Eco-Friendly material! If you are interested in Spun Bond, we are able to take the large rolls we receive, unwind them to a smaller length and slit to your liking. If you don't think your size is realistic, think again, we see every size you can think of get sent out our facility. It's as easy as Requesting a Quote to see what we can do to help you.
